Cut Arts

Now had I found Cut Arts before my wedding it would have almost been a done deal....Maybe for our 10th anniversary celebration. Karl Johnson is a true artist. As it says on his website, "Each Silhouette is cut out entirely freehand. Karl simply looks at the subject's profile or photograph and starts cutting their exact likeness out of black paper."

Now this beautiful artwork does come at a price but these Silhouettes can double as your favors. Your guests definitely will be blow away by this.

Check him out at a recent wedding up here in Northern California:

Now if you simply cannot afford this unique set up at your wedding but love the idea why not take a picture from your wedding and have him cut a Silhouette from that. Here are a few examples:

I am seriously considering doing this for us. I just can't decide what picture to have him do....When I do order I will post pictures.

Centerpiece of the Week

I love this simple orhid centerpiece. This photo was taken by the talented Perspecta Photo. I have a love, or obsession, for all orchids. You could DIY this also!

CTW: Two

Now had I found these before my wedding they would have been in each bathroom! These soaps would have fit in perfectly at the Calistoga Ranch. Soaps come personalized with anything you want them to say. I would have put our names and our date 07.07.07! They can be ordered from Valsey and Me.

So I just ordered these chalkboard pots from Pottery Barn. I think they would make great Escort Cards, Place Cards and Favors. 3 in 1! You can write your guests name and table number/name on each pot and fill with herbs or any other small plant. I bet the pictures of all of these lined up at the entrance to your reception would look amazing.

I used these Place Card Holders at my wedding and they looked fantastic. You can buy them at several different stores but I got mine at one of my favorite stores Uncommon Goods. They also have the wine cork candles that fit inside the wine bottle.

Congratulations J & M

On 10.13.07 we traveled to the historic San Francisco Film Centre located in the Presidio. The architecture of this building is amazing so not much is needed in the way of draping or lighting. I had a great time pulling together this wedding. The bride and groom were great to work with and I congratulate them on their union.

The Palm Room:

Great angle shot by my husband.

The cake by Bev Tanaka. I consider myself a cake snob and this one was delicious.

Centerpieces were filled with rocks and orchids.

Cool Things Wednesdays started on TheKnot. It was and is my weekly post on my local board. I figured it was time to make it public. This is my way of sharing all my great wedding finds with my fellow brides. Enjoy!

Congratulations M & M

On 10.06.07 we traveled up to Mendocino County to coordinate the wedding of M & M. Both the ceremony and reception took place at Mendocino Hill in Hopland. This venue offered guests breathtaking views of the vineyards below and the weather could not have been any better. It was a pleasure working with M & M and I wish them all the happiness in the world. And now some pictures:

Ceremony setup. Amazing Views.

Wine bottles had personalized labels with a picture of the bride and groom at their high school prom!

I loved the simplicity of the florals. Florals done by Petals for your Thoughts.

The bride provided the florists with tons of different types of jars to hold the stems.

Congratulations C & B

On 09.29.07 we had the opportunity to travel to Andretti Winery in Napa to set up a wedding reception. It was a beautiful day and a stunning setting. With such a beautiful backdrop such as the on site vineyards there was no need for tall centerpieces. Low, lush centerpieces created by Viola Flowers were a perfect compliment to the setting. Congrats on your nuptials C & B!!

This beautiful courtyard greated guests upon their arrival.

Guest book table with vintage postcards for guests to write their best wishes.

I love using existing elements such as this wine barrel. Escort cards were placed on top.

The cupcakes looked almost too good to eat...almost.

Groom's Place Setting

The favors were small bottles of olive oil and small bottles of vinegar.
